While not as sexy as Seaside versus Palma, these games have early league title/play-off implications. What are your thoughts?
Palma at Monterey - We all know about Palma from the many posts, but not a lot about Monterey. Game is at Monterey. Advantage Monterey. Monterey played a very unimpressive line-up of pre-season opponents. Advantage Palma. Monterey might have more speed than Palma but not sure that matters much given Monterey's pound it at you style. While not "big names", I'd match Monterey's studs up against Palma's best players and consider it a draw. I think Palma plays with a big chip on their shoulders while Monterey gets complacent thinking they are a bonna fide 3 and 0 team. Palma wins.
North Monterey County at Seaside - NMC has stayed under the radar in spite of their 2 and 1 record. Of course, like Monterey, when your wins come over Soledad and Alvarez, it is hard to tell how good you are. Calpreps says this should be an easy win for Seaside. But is Seaside focused after their huge win last week? I think Seaside makes a statement by pounding on NMC.
Greenfield at PG - I know it is just the MTAL but there are 5 teams in the league with a realistic shot for one of the two play-off spots. The winner of the Greenfield versus PG game stays in that race. PG is favored and Greenfield just got their butts kicked by Mission Prep. Tough for Greenfield to bounce back so I predict PG wins.
King City at Carmel - Everyone figures Carmel runs away with the MTAL, but I say "Whoa Nelly". King City plays a lot like Soquel in terms of big guys and power running and we saw what a strong running game did to the Padres. Good news for Carmel is that they should be able to score more points than King City. I think Carmel wins but it will be closer than many think.
